How Personal Training Can Benefit Your Golf Game

Decreased Risk Of Injuries To The Shoulders And Rotator Cuff

The first weight training golf connection to know about is the fact that the stronger your shoulders and surrounding back muscles become, the lower your risk for shoulder and rotator cuff injuries will be.

Far too many people start to experience nagging rotator cuff injuries at some point in their golf career and once these set in, they can be hard to get rid of.

But, with the right training program, you can target the specific muscles that will prevent these injuries from taking place, making sure you play pain-free for years to come.

These muscles will be worked each time you’re out on the field, but not to the same degree that a proper weight lifting program would have them working.

Enhanced Range Of Motion

Second, the next reason why there’s a strong weight training golf connection is because weight lifting can also increase your range of motion.  When I design a program for golfers, working on boosting the strength at specific points of movement will be a goal.

Most golfers are not only inflexible, but they also tend to be very weak in certain positions.

Unless you strengthen the muscles while they’re in these positions, you’re always going to have that weak spot in your swing.

Weight lifting can help you quickly overcome that.

Improved Swing Power And Agility

Finally, the last weight training golf connection to know about is the fact that weight training can also significantly improve your swinging power as well as your agility level.

As you focus on lifting more weight and using the proper tempo pattern throughout each exercise you do, you can achieve far greater power behind each stroke you take, allowing you to gain far better distance with each swing you take.

Keep in mind that doing weigh t training is not enough to boost swinging power, you really need to be focusing on specific protocols aimed to improve speed as well as strength.  That is one of the primary focuses I take when working with my golf clients.
